I purchased one of these last year from The Viking Store and enjoyed it until the valve broke. I found the part listed online but the manufacturer, WMF, will not respond to my inquiries about how to purchase one. I was surprised that the Viking store would not even attempt to help me find a part or look into warranty info.

That's the last time I buy a "premium" product from the Viking store expecting it to last or have some support.

I have cooked curries and stews regularly in my mum's 30 yr old pressure cooker but recently decided to buy a new WMF Perfect Pressure Cooker as the old lid was getting too hard to screw on and off. I found that there is a major limitation of the WMF cooker, especially if you like making curries and stews. This cooker has a 'safety valve' containing a metal ball. This is the small black dot on top of the lid. The theory is that once sufficient pressure has built up, the metal ball moves into the upper chamber, blocking the outlet and enabling pressure to build. So unless the ball moves, the pressure cooker won't build pressure.
However, when the contents contain a quantity of meat and other ingredients such as when making a curry, the ball simply refuses to move into the cooking position, with the result that all the steam is lost, and pressure does not build up. I never had this problem with my old pressure cooker. I encounter this problem even when there is at least 250ml water in the pot as per instructions. The only time the cooker works properly is when there is nothing but liquid in the pot, or it needs so much liquid that the resulting curry is very watery. Not all modern pressure coookers have this type of mechanism.

This wasn't the machine I wanted to buy. I initially wanted a Tassimo because the Keurig doesn't brew espresso drinks. I was disappointed to find out that Tassimo has stopped selling Starbucks espresso pods as I don't think that the Gevalia makes good quality drinks. I decided to pick up a Dolce Gusto to try out a different brand that does offer espresso beverages. There weren't many reviews to read, so it was a bit of a gamble, but I was purchasing for my office so I wouldn't be stuck with the bill if it didn't work out. ;-)

I planned on getting the larger model, with a bigger water reservoir, but I needed one ASAP so I bought the only model they had at a local grocery store - the Piccolo. It was only $89 locally. The small water reservoir is way too small for any office. This is just going in our conference room for when we have visitors, but you can only get 2 drinks out of it before you need to refill.

I've used Tassimo and Keurig before and I assumed that this would function similarly to a Tassimo. You put in one pod and brew the espresso, then put in another pod and steam the milk. WRONG. There is WAY too much room for human error to affect drink quality with this brand of machine. The lever that lets you control the strength of your drink is a nice idea in theory, but will likely result in poor tasting drinks for most users. The instructions tell you how many ounces you should brew for different drinks, but in my experience people are not very good at judging what 3 ounces or 7 ounces of liquid looks like, so I assume that most espresso would be over extracted and most milk will end up watered down.

This machine would be great if you pushed a button and it brewed exactly the amount that it is supposed to. Making the customer have to judge when to shut off the brewer is just poor design, in my opinion. You also feel like you're "wasting" product if you shut it off too early - it leaves you guessing if you brewed it long enough.

The drink quality was fine - not great. I'm switching back to Tassimo. The machines are excellent even if the drink selection offered by Tassimo is subpar. I'm hoping they will get with the game and start offering new suppliers in wake of the increasing competition in this market.


Krups KP1006 Review by Wordworm

I use this at work. It is small, so doesn't require a lot of space. The various coffees are a hit with my coworkers as well. I like being able to control strenth by how much water is used. The capsules are easily available on Amazon, and the price comes down if you subscribe. I would recommend this in a heatbeat. The only caution is, if you are someone who likes a great big cup of coffee, you'll need to do two servings. I love the small. Like a short at Starbucks.

After spending an hour trying to remove the food pusher which was packed with plastic and impossible to remove we called Cuisinart. Wrong ! The guy, Adam, was a moron.... Enough said.

Solution: I placed the styrofoam packing piece that the Pusher Assy (#4) came in on a solid surface. I then turned the Pusher Assy upside down and placed it in the styrofoam piece cut out. (perfect fit) I placed a used roll of electrical tape on top of the small pusher (about the same diameter)for protection and then placed a putty knife on top of the tape to create a solid surface. Two not so hard hits with a hammer and the small pusher fell out into the styrofoam packing.
No oil or hot water etc...........

I purchased this item with a gift card at a retailer in my local mall. I have had it for several years, and it has worked great. No leaks. The attachments fit and work just fine. The blades are still as sharp as ever. I have used the main blade and the slicing blade; I haven't had a use for the grating blade yet. I wash it in the top rack of my dishwasher with no problems. Every now and then the GFI outlet that I plug it into will pop; but I just reset it and it's fine.

The small round cylinder part on the top kept falling-out when I removed the top, and that was annoying...until I learned that you can twist it into the part that it fits into (and that solved the problem). It has a small latch that holds itself in place. Now I only untwist it when I need it.

No complaints whatsoever. Very reliable. The cuts are clean and quick. It is large enough and powerful enough for me. I would purchase this item again, if I needed to.

I actually bought this food processor to start making natural dog food for my dogs. I also purchased the additional 3-set blades for the machine also. After seeing how nice it works and the high quality of the machine, we realized how much we can now use the food processor for our own cooking needs too. And because it has a beautiful brushed stainless steel finish, I made room on our counter tops to leave it out because its and attractive unit. Very quiet, yet extremely durable machine. The motor runs so smooth and is very powerful. I also like all of the safety features that prevents any type of accidental mishaps while using the food processor. The 9-cup capacity is plenty, although they make them smaller and much larger, this is the perfect size. I love this new machine.

This is truly breathtaking! Each piece has a nice sturdy heft to it while still being delicate. The gold parts are particularly beautiful. What the picture doesn't show is that the lilac cup has a sprig of lilacs printed at the very bottom inside the cup, and the pink with gold roses has a gold rose inside at the bottom as well. It's really fascinating to compare the designs from each decade. Very beautiful!

As advertised, this machine is a marvel of automation, with coffee and espresso available at the touch of a button. The unit cleans and monitors itself. It's really quite easy to use; there is a helpful video included with it. The coffee is "crema coffee" which is very flavorful; devotees of drip coffee may find it a bit stronger than what they're used to. Everything is customizable and programmable.

If you've had espresso/cappucino machines before, you know that the milk frothing is a total inconvenience. Not so with the c3000; just hook up the included milk container to the steam arm and you have LIMITLESS steamed milk. Great for hot chocolate (or Cafe and Coco)......

The only downside is that there is more plastic used in the construction of the unit than I would expect given the rather staggering price.

Below is the message I Sent to Capresso. I think it explains it all.They did not reply until i sent them a follow up letter

Dear Madam or Sir:

I was very excited about purchasing one of your Capresso Super Automatic Impressa S series machines. The design concepts and convenience appealed to me. Usually (not always!) the higher priced items tend to be of better quality and your machines definitely fall into the higher priced category. Therefore I assumed they would be of the utmost quality. Boy was I wrong. Rather giddy I took the 45 minute drive down to ******** ******* in Wrentham, MA to purchase an Impressa S7 only to find they had none in stock, but they did have factory refurbished C3000 machines. So in having good luck with other manufactures refurbished products, and assuming your company was thorough in its refurbishing process I was comfortable purchasing one at its $1200.00 price tag. Upon arriving home and opening the package I was rather disappointed. The machine was filthy there was still grounds in it, and the surfaces and catch trays all had dried up coffee and sediment on them. So I read the manual and cleaned the machine the best I could. When I went to set it up and attach the frothXpress I found that the Steam nozzle was missing. Figuring I could call and get one shipped to me Monday I continued on. Plugging in the machine and going through the initial rinse phase I got a message to fill the system and press steam. The system was full of water and beans and the steam half of the machine worked. When trying to make a cup of coffee it would grind the beans and then just dump them into the waste tray. After looking through the manual again and checking your website I decided that the machine was defective and boxed it back up. The next morning I loaded it back in the car and made the 45 Minute ride back to the store to exchange it. After making the 45 Minute ride home with the new unit I was happy to find that this one had the steam nozzle. This one was also filthy. During cleaning of the second unit I found that the used coffee container and aroma protection lid where missing from this one. When I powered up the second unit neither the steam nor the brew system functioned with the system full of water and beans. With this I packed it back up and spent an hour and a half to return it to the store, and did not get another for obvious reasons. Mind you that both boxes appeared to be unopened and factory sealed. With all that I found wrong with both units it makes me wonder if your refurbishing process consists boxing them back up and shipping them out or if the fixed units got mixed with the damaged units. I can not see how a company could ship a filthy machine like that with the health concerns involved.

I decided to give your company a second chance today Monday, March 07, 2005 by calling your customer support line. I wanted to find a stocking local retailer where I could buy a new Impressa S7 and express my dismay about the problems I had this weekend. I wanted to buy it locally so if I had more problems I could return it to the store instead of shipping it somewhere. The service representative got me locations down in Providence, RI about an hour and fifteen minutes away from me but seemed irritated that she had to do it for me. I had already tried the net but it returned no results. When I started to mention my problems she showed no interest at all and just worked to get me off the phone without addressing any of my concerns for the product. This left me with a bad taste in my mouth and no real desire to spend $1800.00 on a machine made by your company. The People at ******* ******* where professional, courteous, and sympathetic to my problem though there was nothing they could do for me. It is a shame your company is not the same. All this from a company that makes the claim "People and Attitudes Make a Difference!
Once you own a Capresso product we want to make sure that you feel completely comfortable about your decision" on your website. I am pretty sure my comments will not make it under that section of your site but I can make sure that this letter gets posted with every product review location that I find your products in.

Owning and living with the C3000 for over a year, I encourage people to try this before they buy. It takes time to learn how to get good results from this machine. Although semi-automatic, I always make the coffees, due to it's many idiosyncrasies.

Pros: Water container and filter system is really superb. System cleaning is very easy, including periodic maintenance. System status / display panel very good and easy to use. Fast warm-up time, auto shutoff feature.

Cons: It is honestly not the best at extracting full flavor from the espresso beans (compared to my Brasilia) - you really need just the right beans for best results & the first shot is always a tosser. Also, since my SubZero keeps my milk real cold, I have to pre-heat my cups with hot water and even then it is tough to steam the milk to a high enough temperature for serving. Noisy when making coffee. Oily beans jam hopper on grinder.

Overall, I use it only to make quick coffees for myself. I certainly would never attempt to impress anyone with the quality of coffee it produces.

This is a beautiful service. The mirror finish looks quite classy, and the very simple pattern is perfectly elegant. It is oversized as others have noted, but I like it. Minus one star because the teaspoons are a tad too deep to eat oatmeal or ice cream comfortably. Also, I can't find iced-tea spoons in this pattern. And I still love it!

The pieces are a little larger than regular size flatware, but all I had to do was rearange the order of the silverware in the drawer holder. They fit nicely.

I purchased they 65 piece set (12 piece setting) on sale at Macy*s for $59.99 this weekend (4/2/11).

They are sturdy, they shine beautifully, and the design is simple yet says elegance. They have a 25 year limited warrenty so I'm sure I will be happy with this set for 10 years before wanting a new design.

I am going between the other two reviewers who have already posted with 4 stars. This is truly an excellent, sturdy and well made set of flatware from excellent quality stainless steel. For 12 place setting with hostess set included it is also a good price.

However, the individual items, especially the dinner fork and soup spoon are HUGE in comparison to almost all other sets. The soup spoon is so large only a person with large mouth can put it in mouth comfortably. Luckily I have a big mouth (smile). The teaspoons are almost size of most flatware set soup spoons and even larger than a few. The salad forks are size of dinner forks, and the dinner forks you could use to arm a group of 3rd world rebels, almost large enough to be used as pitch fork (okay a bit of an exaggeration).

I really like this set, but will take some getting used to. Added benefit, you get a nice workout while lifting the pieces while eating so can probably save trip to the gym.
