I bought the stainless steel skillet because I don't like cooking with Teflon coated pans. This is a very nice looking skillet. It heats evenly and works well. The handles don't seem to get hot even though they're steel. The legs have rubber tips so it sits firmly on the countertop. The heat control takes a little getting used to since the skillet seems to heat very hot on any setting just at first before adding the food. (The directions say to preheat.) Once the food starts to cook I find that I have to adjust the heat several times before I get it just right.

I emailed the company before purchasing and my questions were answered quickly. The customer service person also suggested that "the best way to season it is to cook bacon in it. You can use something like Brillo in the stainless steel skillet, but don't do it in standing water. Steel wool will flake off and it could float around in the water and enter the plug receptacle and possibly short out. I just let mine stand on the counter while I use the pad." I found this additional note very helpful. It does have vents on the underside so I don't immerse the pan in water anyway, just in case. It cleans up very easily when I add some hot water and let it sit for a while.

I had a Farberware electric stainless steel skillet for over 35 years and I loved it. But after a few years the control went bad and I had to buy a new one. Then several years later the legs started to fall off (the bakelite burned up.) So I have emailed the CucinaPro Company to order another control and some legs as spares; I haven't heard back on that yet.

My only problem was that I couldn't find one in any local store so I could see it before purchasing this unit online.

We have a traveler trailer and I prefer to use an electric skillet instead of my stove. I've had other skillets with teflon coatings thinking they would be an easy clean up, but instead the teflon was coming off/scratched too easily. Since my other stainless pans clean up so well, I wanted to find an electric skillet that was completely stainless. The skillet might seem pricey to some, but considering the other skillets I've purchased and discarded, this one was well worth the money and I have been completely satisified with how it works and the ease of cleaning! If you are hesitating on whether to buy this skillet, DON'T!!

I wanted an electric stainless steel skillet, because I was tired of having to replace the teflon coated ones, because no matter how careful you are, the teflon flakes off. So I spent a lot of time looking online for one. This skillet (as well as the larger 16 inch size) had 5 star reviews whereever I looked (Amazon, Cooks.com and a few other places) but it was really expensive. I had to wonder, could it really be worth the money? Well, it is!
I have had it for a few weeks now and I have made french toast, ham and eggs, chicken-fried pork chops and cream gravy, creamed corn (from scratch using heavy cream) and several other things. The skillet is amazing. It cooks evenly all over (not just where the "heating" element is), and when you turn it to "keep warm," that's exactly what it does. Totally fabulous.
It cleans up like a dream. Once it cools down, I put some soapy water in it for a few minutes, then use a sponge to get what's left. Absolutely beautiful. And no teflon to flake off.
I only have a couple of cons with this and they are so minor, that I still give it 5 stars--the instruction booklet gives recipes, but no temps, and I find that almost everything cooks at 250 or 300. Also, the instructions for seasoning it, are flat out wrong. Thank goodness I checked the reviews and used bacon for the job. Otherwise this is the perfect skillet!

I'm impressed how useful this 13" French Skillet is. We've had a good collection of All-Clad cookware in our kitchen for the past 13 years, and have added very little to it. We recently picked this up on sale @ Macies. This pan felt redundant, because we already have the 14" non-stick frying pan, their large stock pot, and other slightly smaller fryers & saute pans. But really it was our 13-Inch Braiser Pan that made this seem unnecessary.

But I quickly changed my tune.

This pan is large in capacity. It not only cooks down a bag of spinach or a bunch of chard without too much effort to keep everything contained, but the squared edge for the most part prevent any liquids or sauces from spilling over the sides when working at or near capacity. And for our cooking needs, where we put together big meals often, this has been marvelous.

Everything about this pan is what I expected from All-Clad: good workmanship, durable & cleanable finish, heavy weight, and even heat distribution.

We do not use nonstick cookware very often in our house. For the most part, we only use this particular skillet for eggs. The skillet appears to be well-made with a nonstick coating that will last, but the handle is very uncomfortable. It is long, it is at an awkward angle, and it digs into your palm when you are holding it. Also with our skillet it seems like half of it gets hotter than the other side. It is subtle, but still noticeable.

Overall I would probably not buy this skillet again if given the choice. There are too many other options out there than to have to deal with the annoyances of this one.

I purchased this set of pots and pans as a christmas gift for my husband. Life has been so busy that we have not had time to open the box until now. The packaging was terrible. Most of ALL of the pots/pans have some sort of scratch. I am furious! A big purchase like this should be made at the local retail stores. they might cost a little more but in the end you won't have to deal with issues like this. I've never been so disappointed before! The company who sold this product should not be allowed to sell on Amazon. this is not the service one would expect.

I had received this set for my Birthday from a friend. When we unpacked the set we noticed the 8 Quart pot was scratched on the interior. This made the non-stick aspect of the pot worthless. I gave the pots back to my friend and he returned them to Amazon and had a new set sent out. When we received the new set the 8 quart pot again had scratches inside the pot. I thought I would contact Calphalon to inquire about the damage and see what they had to say. I called the Calphalon customer service number but was on hold for so long I gave up. In retrospect I would spend the extra money and stay away from the non-stick surfaces with teflon coating which are prone to scratch easily. If you get the Calphalon One Infused-Anodized pans which you will never have to replace let alone deal with the lack of customer service. Remember the old saying "you get what you pay for." I don't think these non-stick pans will look very good after a years worth of use. If you do choose to buy these pans examine them when you open the box for damage.

My husband I received this cookware as a wedding gift in 2004 and used it for years with no problems. But after about 5 years of steady and proper use they started to go south quickly. Even with hand washing and proper care the teflon started coming off. The bottoms of the pans are discolored (now whitish grey). I know they are probably still under the Calphalon warranty, but I will be replacing them with the stainless primarily because of the health issues surrounding non-stick, but also because I want to upgrade my set a bit. With hand washing they occasionally retain the smells of the food that was last in the pan, particularly tomato based items such as tomato sauces. It was a pricey set and I expected it to last longer than it did, but it was good while it lasted.

Purchased this for my daughter's first apartment. Fit well in her small dining nook. She was able to put the set together by herself with no problems. I do recommend covering the white fabric seats with clear plastic just to keep the anxiety over stains to a minimum.

I've never baked before and always wanted fresh bread. Now I feel like a professional. The recipes are easy and great. I love the French Bread recipe. It makes the best Toast in the world. I don't quite follow the directions in that I mix in a bowl first and the pour into bread machine(may be over kill but it works) The only time the bread hasn't come out perfect is when I mis-read the recipe. Yep, did that a couple of times used a TBS instead of a TSP but like I said I'm new to this :> The automatic add feature works great. I Love This Machine!(and so does my wife who gets to come home to Hot Fresh Bread!!!) It's not noisy, makes different size loafs(Love the horizontal loaf), paddles don't always fall but that's a minor thing all in all I'm a Very Happy Camper!! and will keep trying more of the recipes.

I never baked anything before i bought this machine. Now all i do is bake good natural unprocessed delicious bread every other day. Honey White, Cinnamon Bread with raisins or cranberrys and my all time favorite Hawaiian Bread.

Every loaf has come out perfect even the first one and for someone who has never baked before it has given me a great sense of accomplishment.

I have never owned a machine before so i can not say what is better about this machine but in the same token i have yet to find something wrong. Everything is laid out well in the controls and the user manual is easy to understand.

Stop thinking about it this is a healthy and fun way to bake bread and with the prices going up and up in the stores for bread you can not lose.

One other thing the ability to make the big loafs and the small ones was a clincher for me. My wife likes me to make the small loafs to give away as gifts and i use the big one for the family and i cook a new loaf at least every two days.

I waited many years to buy holiday china...I don't know why I waited so long. This set is all you need for a festive holiday table. The salad plate can also stand in for a dessert plate. After dinner, before dessert I give the salad plates a quick wash up and they are ready for dessert service. The mugs are so much nicer than the small handled coffee/tea cup and saucer...they hold more and they sit studily if you have elderly guests and they are so much better for men's big hands than the tiny cup handle.

The 3 Wusthof knifes I bought feel like quality items and cut sharp with little effort - even my daughter commented how well balanced the knives felt when used. This is a great like ice cream/gelato machine. We also considered the Lello 4080 Musso Lussino 1.5-Quart Ice Cream Maker, Stainless but after reading the reviews of both units we went with this less expensive 4090 model. The exterior is plain white plastic instead of stainless steel, but we are quite happy with the trade-off due to the EASY cleanup of this unit. Remove and rinse the bucket and you are ready for the next batch!

I'd also highly recommend Making Artisan Gelato: 45 Recipes and Techniques for Crafting Flavor-Infused Gelato and Sorbet at Home as a great introduction to making gelato. The author goes to great length to explain the methodology and processes involved before he presents his recipes. Very interesting and a great read.

A note of caution to first time ice-cream/gelato makers: this device is only one step in the process and produces a fantastic, but "soft" product. Yum! You will, however, need to freeze your ice cream for a few hours if you want "hard" ice cream--and this is true for ALL methods of making ice cream. There are a few low-rated reviews of this device that should probably be ignored for this reason.

As an added bonus this unit also makes great frozen margaritas. :)

EDIT: AFTER PERUSING THE OTHER REVIEWS, WE DISCOVERED THAT OUR UNIT WAS DAMAGED IN SHIPPING...JUST LIKE MANY OTHERS.

A plastic bracket was broken in the rear and the upper case does not seat properly. So back it goes...

I bought six antique silver-plated forks in the Queens pattern at a flea market in London years ago and haven't completed the set. I now blend those forks with the Queens flatware set. The antique forks look better than the flatware, but many might not notice the difference since they only use the forks. Very happy with this purchase.

I ordered these as a gift for my mom. She got them and said the box was full of metal chips and the finish on the silverware was covered in chips/pits. She said it looked like the shiny coating was chipping off and falling into the box. She said the chipped places were dark as if the silverware was actually made of lead. I don't even understand how that's possible given they are supposed to be stainless steel, not plated. This was embarrassing. We returned them.

The knives were a surprise Christmas gift in 2009 and they were a big hit. The only change she would make is having the second smallest knife smaller.

If you cook a lot, then you know the value of a good knife set. I have owned my Tramontina Professional Series Cutlery Set (5 Knives, Steel, and Block) for almost 10 years. These well made knives feel good in your hand and have great balance while working with them (favorite is the Chef's knife). The blades are made of high-carbon stainless steel with full tang handle, black nylon grips and three stainless rivets. They hold an edge for quite a while and the steel does a nice job maintaining in between sharpening. My set has an additional six-inch utility knife with a serrated edge side to it instead of the bread knife listed. This set has been outstanding and has been one of the best purchases I have ever made. Used daily, the set has held up very well. The only problem I have had is when a houseguest used the four-inch paring knife improperly trying to separate frozen food and broke the blade. Tramontina was great and replaced the knife no problem under their 25-year warranty. This is a great set when used properly. I always hand wash my knives even with the black Nylon handles. With proper use and thoughtful care, this set should last you 25+ years easy.

Thought this would be a good deal, 3 pots and 1 pan for $50. When they arrived, the pots were all mis-shaped, none of the lids fit, and the pan was well scratched. Clearly, this was not a good investment, and was returned as quickly as it was recieved.

We were shopping for a good set of cookware for a good price. The problem is that reasonably priced sets tend to be junk and/or have some lid gimmick making them impossible to clean. They also tend to have some weird size saucepan or tiny stockpot that forces you to spend more money and your stuck with a piece you don't need.

This Nordicware set is the ultimate minimalist set. Only the things you need, perfectly constructed. The pans are thick aluminum and super-slick. We have experienced no warping or flaking non-stick. We even abuse these pans by putting them in the diswasher. The rubber handle covering can be slid off for placement in the oven. I couldn't find anything indicating the oven-safe temperature, but my guess is 350F is safe.

The only complaint I could come up with is he lack of a 12" skillet. Fortunately, I already have a nice skillet and no need for a second.

It looks like the price has shot-up since I purchased this set.

I just bought this cookware set and it's excellent! All of the pieces are of extremely high quality. The skillet and pots are good, solid aluminum; heavy enough to heat evenly but light enough that they're easy to cook with. I just tried out the skillet and made a wonderful omelette. This is excellent cookware at an incredible price. I'm going to buy some more NordicWare pieces.

My husband and I registered for this pattern in the 1980s because of its classic and elegant design, figuring that it would probably not be discontinued or, if it was, that we could contrast them with a more modern Lenox cream design. Well, here it is, decades later, and Lenox is still manufacturing Eternal with the same quality and look of the original. I cannot tell the difference between the ones manufactured in the 1980s and the ones I received earlier this month.

Because we decided that it was time to add a few place settings to our existing pieces, we shopped around for sales and specials over the past year. We settled on Amazon because of price, a current special offer, and the ease of having it delivered to the house. Since china is fragile, we weighed the pros and cons of ordering online -- and finally decided that our past experience with Amazon's return policy for damaged merchandise would be enough. Not surprisingly, one of the four boxes shipped contained broken pieces. All I had to do was get on the phone with customer service, arrange for an exchange, print out the return labels, and wait for the replacement box. Fortunately, because I had 30 days to return the broken set, I waited until the replacement arrived. That box had a broken plate in it as well, but between the two boxes, I managed a complete, damage-free place setting. Because of my experience with breakage, I advise that you don't order through here for gifts when it might be difficult for the recipients to exchange items. And if you are counting on having enough place settings for a specific event, order well in advance to give yourself time to return any broken pieces.

The china itself is cream-colored with 1/4" gold bands on the edges and insets. (I believe that Lenox also makes a white china version, but I've never seen it.) This simple design can be compatible with other gold-edged, Lenox cream china, even those with designs, making Eternal a good choice to fill out the number of place settings or serving pieces for a variety of patterns.

Although Lenox claims that the china is dishwasher-safe, I recommend against putting in the dishwasher because of the gold edges. Yes, the china itself should withstand the heat and the harsh detergent, but I doubt the gold bands will. My husband's grandmother used to put her Lenox in the dishwasher all the time, however, without incident. I'm just not willing to take the chance with mine.

My only complaint about this pattern is also its selling point: its simplicity. If you want your china pattern to be distinctive, Eternal is not for you. If, however, you are looking for a pattern that will never be dated or that highlights the food rather than the dishes, then this pattern is a great choice. Chances are, with a name like Eternal, this pattern should be manufactured for decades to come.
